There are other vendors on both Aliexpress and ebay offering keys in the post cut from a pic. However the Chinese are best on price for this service atm and a good option if you can wait a few weeks for delivery. Delivery time can vary depending on things like customs delays and indeed the vendor's own shipping arrangement. As on ebay vendors might not ship immediately, instead orders are often collated and shipped out together on a pre-planned future date. That way there may be enough orders to ship to meet their needs. Prices on Aliexpress are also subject to currency fluctuations and can change either way on a regular basis, usually no more than a few pennies in my own experience. Other factors such as tax changes and a vendor's own price changes can also come into play, but any vendor anywhere can rejig their prices to suit their changing needs. If ordered last year my key from China would have cost 20% less, this is because Aliexpress now has to charge UK VAT on orders under £15 GBP when previously it did not.
But every cloud has a silver lining as they say. I'm going to have a go at configuring my own transponder chip and for this purpose I've purchased the EWS Editor Lite tool, again via Aliexpress from China. It cost almost £50 and last year I would not only have been charged VAT but also the Royal Mail's VAT collection fee - which roughly would have equaled if not surpassed the VAT charge itself. So buying the EWS tool this year has saved me the cost of RM's VAT collection fee as the job of collection now falls on Aliexpress. Lol. |

thanks for the offer. Not comfortable posting these things. I've had too many bad experiences of important packages getting lost in the post. I will be in the UK in a cpl of weeks time for a few days, but in Devon and then greater London. Just trying to work out if I could get to you for a day. How much would it cost and how much time do you need? Cheers, Pete |
