What is the job of the low speed fan? When and why does it work? What are the implications of the fan not working? The mechanic at the garage said that the speed fan only activated when the ac was on in order to cool the compressor and was needed when ac not being used

Rear brakes
Was going to do my rear brakes on Friday, but lady muck who must be obeyed, went off to Winchester with the garage keys, where all my tools are.
So I did them when she got home Saturday night. (Late)! Quite an easy job with no pitfalls, all a came apart easy even the Torx T50 came out easier than expected. Cleaned All the muck off the callipers and put in the nice shiney new disks, did notice when I was in there that whoever last put in the handbrake shoe adjusters had forgotten to do the final adjustment, that's why my handbrake lever was so high and so innefective, it now comes on at four clicks and is solid. The poor adjusters were fully collapsed in. Also had a good look around when I was under there and everything looks really tidy with very little rust as all, I guess the car has been looked after in the past. Even the suspension arms and brake lines are clean. Nice cars to work on. Wizzo337. |

The AC should work without the low speed fan also, once the system gets hot enough the trinary switch will enable the high speed fan. But everyone uses the AC to test the low speed fan is working. Basically, the garage are almost there, but you didn't need to do anything about the air con compressor for the fan to work.

Friday: Replaced front number plate (it split when driver in front at lights selected reverse instead of drive and split the plate with towball).
Saturday: Replaced hand brake shoes, replaced disk pads front and rear, cleaned and painted callipers, changed engine oil, filter and air filter. Sunday: (today) Removed paint from body strips along sills (nice polished stainless steel showing now). |

On Clarabelle I replaced the leaking fuel cooler valve (thanks Tom)
On Roswell I tried my new boosted aerial on the Naval II (still problematic).
