EP Message
We went for lunch in the 75. When I tried to restart her, the EP message came up, and, despite turning vigorously, the engine would not restart. I disconnected the battery for half an hour, with no luck. The AA man came and, after checking the plenum, he cleaned some large connectors under the air box, and the car started instantly. He assured me that I would have no further trouble.
Two days later, we had lunch at the same place, and exactly the same thing happened. This time, a two minute disconnection of the battery did the trick, and I was able to drive home. What could be causing this? I usually only use the car on Sundays (we are off this week), and I usually disconnect the battery after use, as it tends to go flat during the week, particularly in cold weather. Many thanks. Are not MGR petrol ECU's sealed - mine certainly is - only the Diesels are prone to water damage/ingress

I had the EP warning which affected the transmission .
Thought the auto was knackered. Turned out the large plug that comes from the auto box (under the airbox) had twisted a little loose Re connected it tightly and all has been good since. |

This is effectively what the AA man did on mine - he undid the plug and said the contacts were dirty and oily. He did a thorough clean-up, and all seemed fine, until a couple of days later, when the problem recurred, albeit momentarily. It may be just a glitch. I'll try taking the car out for runs without stopping, so any further problems would occur on my driveway......
