Some photos from a friend’s beach house yesterday at Bofa Beach, a retired VC10 pilot living at their new beach house with his wife. The beach was deserted and the tide was in.

2 days ago, we visited a fellow Brit, retired from shipping who lives in a converted bunker built into the face of a 200 foot high cliff. He also lives in the UK and visits his bunker house every 3 months to go sailing in his yacht. See photo. To get to the yacht, he scales the cliff face using a pilots rope ladder. I was invited to climb down on the ladder, but declined. He laughed and made light of it. I thought he must have nerves of steel.

Can’t say I blame you for politely declining the offer of scaling down the cliff face Phil

Great photos

Good morning Jeff, I wonder if it’s something your dad would have had to do in his training? This chap is in his late 60’s and made nothing of scaling the cliff, not only that, his staff - the handyman and his cook go up and down the ladder as though it’s a big joke.

Not so sure in his Navy days but certainly in his Fire Brigade days

The Ele had come to the water hole for drinks and to help me take the photo. He stood patiently waiting and watching, flapping his ears in the cool of the night.

f/5.6 ISO 1600 0.8 sec 150mm handheld....no flash, night shot.

Thank you Paul. it was one of several I took. The problem was finding a shot when the Elephant was not moving and not flapping the ears or the trunk. No flash and the light from the floodlight was limited to either a blow out or too dim.
