Walnut surprise?
I ordered this off eBay and it arrived this morning, on time, and all there in good order. It was sold as fake wood but spotting the airbag badge I took a punt, am I correct in thinking the fascia is veneer but the ashtray, brow, gear gaiter and switch are fake? The dates are 1999 on the fascia and 2001 on the other parts. They do look different in the flesh. Nevertheless I知 happy with this lot for 」55 delivered, and I have a no hole trim already so a good set!

The centre pieces are plastic, ie, ash tray, heater etc. The airbag, clocks etc are veneer 😎

Am I the only person who sees no difference whatsoever in the plastic v genuine fascias?
I've had both in my 75s and can't say that it has made a scrap of difference to me which was which. If pushed I would just about plump for the genuine given the choice, for no other reason than to be able to say to the odd passenger or so 'Its real walnut you know' But apart from that I'm struggling to see the difference, especially as both versions are so highly glossed that they more or less look the same anyway and I could only tell myself which was which because of the airbag writing. |

I see a difference, depending on the part it can be a huge different actually. All veneer parts are unique, so there is a difference between the real and other real ones. For me it is clear to see artificial or real parts concerning deepness, structure, shinyness, overall look, generally a bit darker.

I have to say though, that even if the "wood" on the plastic dash looks the biz (which it does), the fit of the veneer ones is a little better, particularly round the air vents. A worthwhile upgrade to my mind, even though my wife would disagree! . Cliff

I changed from light oak to real walnut, the difference there was huge! Not just the colour of course, but the shine was streets ahead.

I知 going to have a look at what I can do with my Matt grey dash - if someone could help me with the name - I might have a play at HFF BRG colour coding when it warms up, if that fails I値l try piano black vinyl! Looking forward to a few hours of scraped fingers this week swapping it over...
