Cleaning an alloy inlet manifold
I have recently purchased one of these and intend to fit shortly to my 1.8T.
Any suggestions for the best way to clean beforehand? I have tried WD40, carb cleaner and white spirits but none can get rid of all the little spots.. Also, what's the best way of cleaning the inside of the manifold? And should it be hosed down/out before fitting, to clear any residue of these flammables? Cheers. |

I bought one for my 1.8T and it was coated in the famous "mayo" I found blocking all holes bar 1 and pouring petrol in then give it a good shake about..m

Cheers for the info lads, petrol and Hammerite it is.. To be fair, it's pretty clean as is, but it's a good opportunity to tidy it up properly when it's off the car and apart.
