Not entirely sure how you look it up from Windows, but you can find the information from BIOS setup. How you get at that information will depend on what motherboard you have. Usually, pressing "DELETE" during the self-test screen (the very first screen that appears when you start the computer) will normally get you into BIOS.
If you've never ventured into BIOS before then TREAD VERY CAREFULLY. There are things in there that do major things to your system if you should change them. If your not sure, then tell us (if you know) what motherboard you have and we'll find the information for you. |

would of thought obvious thing to do is open up the casing if not under warranty and pull a piece out make a note and buy some ,easy enough to upgrade.

For example, if you had, say 512K of memory installed and you wanted 2Gig then it's not simply a case of buying three more 512K cards. You'd probably (depending on who makes them) have to buy two 1Gig cards or one 2Gig card. It gets a bit tricky unfortunately. And then there's the getting the right one (as Mike asked originally) which also can get complicated. |

Crucial is used by many "Repairers" to get the correct Memory for Machines or just type in any Model & Maker and it will tell you what you need, saves a lot of time i can assure you in this day of so many memory makers and configurations, you can even enter any Motherboard make and back it comes with whats required.
