Default Can a non gps car have the updated gps unit installed

I have a rover 75 2001 connoisseur and it does not have the gps unit. Can a gps unit simply plug in or are there more parts I need and is the wiring already in place or is it not a practical idea.

Are you asking whether you can fit a complete factory high-line satellite navigation system to your car Chris?

Hello Chris and thanks for confirming your enquiry.

There's more to the highline sat. nav. system than the head unit in the console. You'll need the disc drive which also contains the navigation computer, a video module and radio module plus the GPS aerial concealed under the rear parcel shelf. As far as the loom is concerned, look in the spare wheel well for connectors (this is where the video and radio modules live). There might be one in the RH rear wing too for the disc drive. A Google search using the special box on this page may reveal further detail.

Bear in mind Chris that the factory sat. nav. system is now over 20 years old and it would be an awful lot of work to fit it.

CVhris,

I have done the same, got rid of the tape unit, but fitted a Double D unit wih radio, gps phone etc. Plenty of choice of units, I used a cheaper unit, the second one is working well!
