Default Locking Wheel Nut Key - urgent

Evening everybody. It has been a while since I was last on the forum but having obtained another 75 I thought I'd say hello again.

However, I wasn't expecting the first thread in a while to be a 'help'.

My car has no locking wheel nut key and I cannot tell which number is required. I've taken a picture in case anyone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Ken

A 10mm drill bit, straight down the middle then a stud extractor while the bolt is still hot from drilling.

Be a bunch easier if you can borrow a key from someone, though. They are either no. 11 or 12, so a 50/50 chance. Once removed throw all the locking bolts away and replace with normal bolts.

That's not an 11 or a 12, its the later McGard type, God awful things, the removal keys are made of chocolate!

Yes, it's the later McGard type. Real pain!

http://www.mcgard.com/
I had to order one as I lost mine only for my daughter to find it on the drive.
Never had a problem with mine but it does seem a few people have.

Sorry for the bad advice, Ken. Thought wrongly that only the V8's had them.

Changed to McGards roughly when the facelifts came out. Had them on a Volvo, all you need is one overenthusiastic young tyre fitter with a windy gun and you're screwed! The removal keys aren't substantial enough to take the abuse required to undo an overtightened bolt.

If you go to the McGard website and contact customer services, if you send them a picture like you posted they can send you the correct key. It costs around £14.

They did this for me after my key disintegrated and the key codecard that came with my ZT turned out to be for a 75.

It looks very like mine (six pointed star with one point rounded off).
