Default Boris minefield.

He has opened a legal minefield. If a visitor from England visits Porthcawl Beach in Wales, and he is fined by police, could he appeal that he is not breaking English law.

English rules in England, Welsh rules in Wales, it doesn’t seem to complicated to me?

'Stay Aware' and 'Stay At Home' relate to devolved laws (?) and directives. So whilst in Wales (Scotland and NI - if you get in) you would have to adhere to and respect them. So if heading to the Welsh coastline, you could quite easily be sent back home by the police.

I have just watched his speech again,he is the Prime Minister of the U.K. He mentioned the U.K. twice and the four nations. Not once did he give the impression he was only talking about England. I am just thinking that would confuse a court case.

Did he change any laws or devolved resolutions (which this lockdown is controlled by)? If not, there would be no confusion. Simply individuals ignorantly/arrogantly arguing with law enforcement officers enough to have a case brought against them.

As for the four nations, for NI it makes sense for us to follow the ROI's stance on the lockdown and movement.

Boris also said he had consulted with the other home nations yet they are doing something different to England, presumably consultations didn't go that well !

In the much longer news program that followed the Prime Ministers announcement they covered the subject of different rules in Scotland, Wales and NI several times

Do see what the possible confusion would be.

Look at your driving licence, before starting up the car. If it mentions England, or one of the English counties on the address portion, then do not drive to one of the home countries. Simple.

It would be selfish to try to enter one of the home nations if you are an English resident?

Think of the Northern Irish who believe themselves to be Irish rather than British. The Irish constitution makes provision for such residents for rights etc. So if ROI maintained the lockdown, whilst the whole of the UK relaxed (or abandoned) the lockdown. Aside from a political slant, NI following the ROI stance on the lockdown makes practical sense.
