Is this the correct TOAF interface cable?
Guys
There seems to be a plethopra of Vag Com cables available online so is this the correct one for TOAF ( I am assuming pins 7 &8 will need connecting) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233994483...kaAn_aEALw_wcB Alternately is there a cable that works without shorting the pins? Cheers Paul |

I ordered this one. I don't know if it is the same.
Perfect with windows 10. Tryed yesterday evening, toaf 43 and 51, com3 detected (drivers on cd installed before on computer). Pins 7 &8 connected by a friend but maybe ok before, there was a connection but i wasn't sure. https://www.ebay.fr/itm/154192160083 Last edited by 900xj; 6th May 2021 at 12:56.. |

Looks like the right sort, although I agree it's a minefield, some work - some don't I've been lucky but then again I still use a serial cable rather than a USB is I find it 100% reliable. I see some cables have a switch although I'm unsure if it's to bridge 7 & 8 or not. If you don't like soldering them then I suppose some thin fuse wire would do the job too.

Yes that's the cable most people use. You have to open up the plug (4 screws) to access the rear side of the pin board. A bridge is then soldered across Pin 7 and 8 using a short length of wire. The pin numbers are usually marked on one or both sides of the board.
Hope this helps. TC |
