Default What to look for

Hi i am going to pick up an MG ZT v6 190 manual at the weekend i have put a deposit on the car but have only seen the pictures and read the sales pitch, so far it looks very nice and reads fine but i know you can get a bit blinkerd when you have your heart set on something.
I have a rover 75 cdt and know some of the problems they have but just wanted to ask what i should be looking for with my potential new acquisition.
Thanks in advance.

Pop the bonnet and listen to the engine on tickover, is there any rattling from the inlet manifold? If so budget for a replacement ( I think DMGRS has them).
Also check when the cam belts were replaced, due every 6 years / 90,000 miles (whichever is sooner), you are talking around £450 to have them changed!

I have done this, promised to buy without viewing, got there and thought, No Way! so at times you have to walk away. As you say, it's difficult if you've already planned on driving it away, but I had thought about it on the bus over there and decided if I saw several faults, then there are more I could not see.

Default Thank you

Thanks for the replys well i went to see it and have to say i have never been so disappointed not only because i had my heart set on going home in it given it lived up to the description but the fact that i spent £60.00 and 9 hours of my time going to see it.
Obviously the old saying of beauty is in the eye of the beholder rings true for cars as well it realy annoys me that some people think its ok to leave out a lot of the negative points and hope you dont pick up on them and pictures that are taken which leave out the dents, scratches and rips to seats.
Now i have to try and get my deposit back wish me luck.
