Is there not another gearbox that has better quality parts that could be used instead? Do the k4 engined ZT/75's use a different box? Or all the same? How about a box from an early 800 ? Or is that the same too? I saw that somebody once put a Japanese turbo engine in a ZT, did that use a different gear box? Tbh it's hard to convince yourself to part with anymore cash on a car if the new replacement parts aren't even reliable to any degree of consistency. I probably should have bought another old audi. But I'm not quite ready to give up on the ZT just yet. My clutch is also slipping intermittently and I get a slight clonk when I pull away sometimes. Only a couple thousand miles on this new clutch and master and slave. But was done before i bought the car, so no warranty.

Totally off the hip here, but what about the Chinese MG6?
I know the engine seems to have far less issues than the original Rover! I don't know if the gearbox is similar at all, but I would look into it for starters.
