3 to 4 gearchange test best done on private road though.

I hope that helps with the diagnosis.
Sounds like you are getting boost cut from a lazy boost control valve as that certainly isn't normal.

I'd be checking the boost levels to see what you are getting.

Didn't say I was experiencing the problem, just giving an idea of what can happen.

If yours is a 1.8T do the test & see what the results are and please let us know.

It is indeed and I don't get such issues. I did have similar issues until I bypassed the boost control valve though (I was getting boost cut as the turbo spooled and the valve wasn't reacting fast enough to control the boost level).

Ok I should have said standard mapped cars

It should be more lively once you remove the de-tuned map

I wonder if there is anything to be gained looking at the cams too as I'd guess they are setup for low down grunt rather than top end pull., (unless they were something out of the parts bin of course!)
