Default UB fuel pump Magnetti Morrelli.. Any good?

What are your thoughts on Magneti Marelli UB pumps? Or pumps in general...

Althought it may be best to go for a pierberg or equivalent funds just dont allow for it.

I got a cheap unbranded from amazon and it didnt last 6 months before fuel was leaking out of the top (electrical connection side) and making its way back to the internal fuse box to find diesel all over the relays that in turn kept the relay in the on position and drained the battery as the pump wouldnt turn off even with key out.. Dont want to go there again..

Apples and oranges, I know, regarding the UBP's and In-Tank Pumps, BUT I am sure the Magneti- Morelli ITP's have fallen out of favour. Hopefully one of the traders here (Jules, maybe?) who only recommends the VDO ITP can say if any of the M-M UBP's have failed early. Obviously, Ceedy's experience is good. Did you get that from a member, Ceedy?

Cheers,
Glenn

Thanks just in the nick of time. I was about to order them as a pair. as am having 1/4 tank issue so presume if not failed in tank is failing. For some reason when i was puling trailer it was an even bigger problem. Suckng more air as requiring more fuel?

Pierburg or TI Automotive they were fitted as OEM, and produce the correct pressure, I’ve tested loads and loads of other makes and find some produce adequate pressure but become noisy or don’t produce the correct pressure and start to leak at the top.

Don’t whatever you do but cheap Chinese pumps they are useless, quality parts last and cheap ones are false economy

If money was no object and car had less than 100K i woudnt hesitate. but shes done 150k (was poor body work cat D at 80K) and money sadly is an issue else id prob get a replacement car with 70-90K. ...

Yes chinese pumps as said ive had a poor experience. But Magneti Moralli are an Italian brand. How do their pumps fair? Have you had experience with them? So far good reports on the IT although possible early failures waiting to be confirmed. How about the UB?

I should have searched posts more... https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...85#post2724885

which if down to pressure as mikyboy validly stated from tests.. what about the uprated pumps mentioned here. https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...89#post2724889
Surly pressure wont be an issue doing this.

On the subject of pressure and without a T4 can we get an idea of how it is doing using a multi meter?

Ok well thanks to Miky setting the seed of doubt as to non oem pumps.. I've gone for a second hand Pierburg from car with 60K. If it lasts to 100K then thats another 40 and it will no doubt be time to change vehicle before anyway.

Knowing how to test the pressure without T4 would be useful.

Well if you was down in Kent one day and you let me know I could pop it on my T4 and give it a health check and measure the pressure as I’m only 50 mins from Sidcup
