my guys took off the top hose andstuck hose pipe in and run it through till is was running out clear ,they then took off bottom hose and drianed the system, replaced the hose`s ,check the condidition of all hoses filled slowly ,then ran engine and bleed the system with the heater set to high ,the bleed valve was in between the engine and the battery , keep the ank topped up when bleeding then when coolant runs in one movement from the bleed value close valve check the level in the tank should see the fins sticking up or with a torch shine it on side of tank to reveal the max min marks. dont over fill it replace cap run till fan kicks in ,check at a later date when cold .level will drop when cold so if checked when hot/warm the level will be higher .

Robert,

It's in the Haynes manual. Not perfect, but better than nothing. The £19 will be an investment for life, and you can order on-line and have it delivered to your door in 24 hours.

Simon.

Robert,

One thing which Chrissyboy has overlooked is that the expansion tank should be removed and raised as high as possible during the venting process. As I said, it's described in Haynes.

no it dont ,leave the tank alone ..the tank would be lifted to allow gravity to do the same thing that running the engine will do ..

the put the hose in to where the hose went over and the coolant ran out of the hose that would of sat over that , so water in and water out the hose .

Chris,

Raising the tank is specified in MG Rover's RAVE.
