Default Black Dots?

I park my Zircon Silver 75 on the drive. Small black dots keep appearing on the horizontal paint surfaces (bonnet/roof/boot). I have had the car from new so I know the paint is original. The dots can be removed with car shampoo and a lot of rubbing with a cleaning mitt but they soon return. I park a silver Focus next to the 75 but the black dots don't appear on the Focus. Any ideas?

I thought of those sources but the Focus is 3 feet from the Rover and never gets black dots. Perhaps it is fly poo or soot but it doesn't stick to the Ford paint.

Do they appear when the car is on the drive ?---ie. nothing at night but there in the morning or when you get home after driving the car.

During the Covid restrictions neither car has been driven much. I cleaned the dots off yesterday so I will monitor it each day and see when they reappear.

Have you got a telephone line above where you park your car? Every time it rains, I get browny/black spots on the roof bonnet and boot. Could not work out why it only occurred when it rained or a very damp nightime. Then I noticed that the phone line was directly above where I park the car. Must be all the muck that collects there from birds and dust. Check it out

The phone line does come to the house overhead but it is 50 feet from where the 75/Focus are parked.

I just remembered this.--Some time ago in the summer we had a bit of a plague of flies

My car, dark green, was standing next to my wife's car, silver. There were hundreds of flies on her car but only a few on mine.--Maybe there's a colour they prefer.---

Or perhaps they don't like hot feet.--

Fly or insect poop. Don't rub it, then lick your finger like many do when cleaning the flys**t off the windscreen! As said above, flies love to warm their bums on the reflection from silver cars.

I can't imagine there'll be that many flies around at this time of year.
