Oops, typo with the extra zero in the original post now corrected.

To answer your question; nope I'm a service engineer. Driven the car from new in 2000 when it was a company car, and was so impressed I bought it from them when I left.

Did nearly 500 miles yesterday going up to Seaton Ross near York and back for a breakdown.

These cars are great for long distance relaxed cruising - like sitting in your favourite arm chair.

The engine has never been apart, and although I've replaced some of the ancillaries, the injectors, HP pump, turbo and crank pulley are all original and still going strong.

That's an amazing mileage given the lack of major repairs you've had to carry out. It really is reassuring to hear stories like this and seems to go some way to support the idea that the cars need to be used and driven to keep them happy.

My diesel 75 is just on 115k running sweet as a nut and a pleasure to drive. 17k with me and only needed a new ubp as well as servicing.

So what's the secret to longevity?

Only a mere 110,000 for mine It's not doing the mileage it used to so, I'm not expecting to get to the moon for a while

I've always followed the official (earlier) MG Rover service schedule so oil changes every 15k miles.

Due to my work, and that I have a Freelander for local drives, the car mainly does long runs, and that helps minimise wear and tear.

Seeing as it started life as a company car, I've also always bought the cheapest diesel I can find. Seemed to thrive on it, so I carried on doing the same after I bought it.

On the very rare occasions I end up at the wrong pump and there is only premium diesel available, I use that and give the car a treat.

260000 miles Tomorrow.. October 2005 ZTT one owner from new,and has been resting 2010/2012 while I drove 100000 miles in a Chrysler 300.
Still drives beautifully. Original exhaust, one clutch, a few fan problems.

Well mine has just ticked up 88,888 miles, and at the rate I am putting the miles on, I shall be long gone before it does 'moon mileage'.
