What I did with my Rover 75/MG ZT today?

That sill looked exactly like mine before I sorted it out
The steel is unbelievably thin with all the strength being in the chassis..
If anyone hasn't had rot yet maybe you got the lucky one with the rust proofing that managed to be applied properly .
I noticed that the rust proofing missed the rear inner sill just by coincidence the exact length of the corrosion .
I like the set up by the way

From its MOT history, mine has had the same issue, also on the off side. This from its November 2018 failure statement.

Integral body structure or chassis has excessive corrosion, seriously affecting its strength within 30cm of a body mounting O/S rear sill (6.2.2 (d) (i))

Must have been a relatively straight forward job as it was repaired, along with several other issues, and passed the same day.

Had Christine MOTed a couple of weeks ago and passed with advisories one was the tin worm that is becoming a problem for us owners, the rear passenger side jacking area. I am lucky it was not structual. So had the area treated and welded for future proofing. Pity the end result looks like the welder was on a weekend bender lol.
Last week got an oil service done so can relax for another year my kv6 has its TLC, plus fitted long over due wiper blades.

Sealed the rear light clusters in between showers, a previous owner thought it was sufficient to run a bead of silicone around the edge of the light cluster in situ

Gave the car a run out to nip over and see Rick-sta to get my new IPK screen fitted. Although my old screen wasn't too bad, it had previously been repaired and more lines were coming and going on it.

Haven't used any of my cars much recently so it was a bit reluctant to leave the garage until the handbrake shoes unstuck themselves from the drums

Had the offside wing replaced. The original was beyond redemption as the inner lining had been fitted badly, leaving it exposed to water and anything else the tyre could throw at it. The replacement is a perfect match and in tip top condition.

I also had the underside assessed for its upcoming MOT. It needs welding at one of the jacking points, and some other minor underside attention. Will be done a week before the first date that I can have it tested to preserve the anniversary of the expiry date.

Now all she needs is a jetwash followed by a coat of Turtlewax, probably tomorrow, then perhaps a photoshoot

Fitted a KMAPS 200bhp remapped ECU. Fitted alloy inlet after finding the original plastic one weeping coolant, found a reused green gasket and black silicone sealant, despite replacing with a viton black gasket the leak persisted leading me to suspect the plastic one was warped. Turbo seems more noticable with this inlet on too.

A full day Rovering today!

Nipped to the scrapyard this morning to grab an intercooler and a ‘as new’ slam panel for a member in Norwich.

Rogue turned up (with costa and sausage rolls ) To have the plastic Y piece changed on his coolant circuit, turns out the leak was from an o ring in the large pipe connection, and not the usual Y piece leak.

Back to the scrapyard just before it closed to grab an o ring to get us out of trouble!!

SteveG then turned up from Norwich with his newly acquired 2.0 V6, a quick T4 session revealed a dead vis motor and no other faults ��

A quick cuppa before tackling my sticky rear brake caliper, that’s when this greeted me.



Thankfully the bolts all played ball and a replacement arm was fitted just before the darkness fell.
