Default Wiper motor weathersealing

Here's my wiper motor. There's a bit of gaffer tape covering a hole in the casing and the connector is wide open to the elements.

Are all 75/ZT motors as poorly sealed as this?

The originals look to have self amalgamating tape or similar on them:-

Now that would have been far better off with a rubber plug in it.

The tape appears to have shrunk even on the 'new' £186 ones.

Make that two rubber plugs - one round and one rectangular.

For some peculiar reason they've punched a lot more holes all the way round both ends of the casing but the centres are still intact.

Btw, can this motor be unbolted from the drive frame (4 nuts on the other side) or is the gearbox spring-loaded in some way?

I'd like to take it off so I can clean up the frame.
