Default Holiday in Scotland...

The Rover has so far done us proud - we've driven up to the Scottish Highlands from Cambridge over the last couple of days for a short holiday. It's the first time we've taken it a long way from home, and done significant mileage and I have to say that it's been very comfortable and economical so far.

We've seen quite a few other 75s on the way up, including a superb turquise mk. 1 tourer on the A66 with a club sticker in the rear window. I was really pleased when the owner of our holiday cottage stopped me this morning to say what a nice-looking car it is!

We went up to Lossiemouth today, mainly to call in at the Buccanneer Service Station for the purpose of visiting XW530 and also picking up a couple of bottless of Scotch (always worth a look if you're nearby and in the market for some whisky).

We've been dodging showers all day but this did mean that there were some superb rainbows around - here it is parked up at the West Beach car park at Lossiemouth.

Do come and say hello if you spot us up here in the Highlands!

Lovely picture with the rainbow. If you're travelling through Fife, feel free to stop by.

Default Same Buccaneer

Here is mine at same spot. My son is at RAF Lossiemouth.
This was also a couple of hundred yards from my late Grandparent's house so have seen it there since the week after it arrived!

I used to live about 400 yards from there, and my Mrs worked in that garage for a while when I was based up there about 15 years ago. Lovely area and still tinker with the idea of moving back that way sometimes. Never say never

Great pic under the rainbow

Have a great time, it is a wonderful part of the world and if you get down as far as Wigtownshire, feel free to call in for a brew and biccies

If that offer is still on in September I'll be travelling to Stranraer visiting my wife's family and hoping to bring the 75 for the trip up.

Cheers for the reply Chaps - can't get over how friendly this forum is :-)

Ravinder - I knew you were up in this part of the world and I've just looked up whereabouts exactly. Sadly we're not heading that way home otherwise it would have been great to stop by and say hello. Maybe mext time as we're up this way fairly often.

The journey home is going to consist of heading as far south as we can, as quickly as possible. We've got to pick our cats up from a cattery near Cambridge when we get back, and it's only open during very limited hours. Trying to hit that deadline is going to require luck and a following wind I fear :-)

I'll post a few more pics if I take any good ones - here's another shot of that rainbow from earlier, without a Rover in it this time. It really brightened up some pretty dull weather!

I live only three miles from there. I was at Thirlstane Castle yesterday and was speaking to an ex pilot who used to fly that very aeroplane
