Smile What made you fall for the 75/ZT?

For me it was the Dashboard.

As an eleven year old I was obsessed with cars, particularly the dashboard for some reason! I used to walk past parked cars, peering inside, must have looked odd! The ones I distinctly remember as my favourites were Saab's ( as they looked like cockpits) and of course 75s all the walnut and those retro speed dials.

When I passed my test, I bought a sensible first car : a Yaris, kept it 6 months then bought a silver 75 Classic.
Probably the most basic 75 you can get, but most importantly I had the Dash!

On number 3 now, my lovely Dorchester!

Having grown in Cowley, with the austin rover plant at the bottom of my road (Bartholomew Road), I've always liked the local motors (except the maestro) friend of the family had the montego turbo, then we saw the honda team up making the 200 / concerto 400 600 and 800, and with my uncle working in design , grandad used to work at pressed steel, and other members of the family either working there, or as we did, make parts for the production line (when I say we i mean my parents at their factory in littleworth, i was a kid who after school would goto the factory and help out the family business).
So when I left home, moved to london the 75 had just been released and I knew then I wanted one, not the 25 or 45 due to them being a rehash of the 200/400 , the 75 was something else, and when I saw one next to a s type, I thought the rover was more of a jag than the ford jag.

Rover, always in my blood and heart, and when I was given a 75 tourer cdti 131 even though she needed work I wouldn't get rid of her now, not even if the government try and tax diesel more.

Keep looking at MG6, but know deep down, the 75 wins me over.

I wanted a car to replace my Saab 95 Griffin with similar comfort and with as many of the luxury items like heated seats electric everything full leather so the 75 cdt fitted my requirements....Not as rapid as the Saab with the V6 turbo petrol but my fuel bill is a lot less

Default sheer style

The style, so classic! And it oozes quality, for cars that are now getting on some, the build quality is pretty amazing. My R75 is a 2001 with K series engine and for a 16 year old, has surprisingly few issues. OK it was well looked after before I owned it, and had genuinely low miles too, but great. Then the MGZT 190 - puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. A different feel to the R75 altogether.

When I was younger my dad had 3 in total, about 10 years later I bow have my own, I guess my dad having a couple must have sparked the interest.

Read an article in the Telegraph about a luxury bargain car. The rest as they say is history!

Always loved wooden dashboards, (even can accept the fake ones), and at least 6 cylinders, so Rovers and Jaguars have always fitted the bill. I have owned 2 S Types and 6 75s/ZTs over the years - I still have all the MG/Rovers, but not the S Types - enough said!

I've strayed from the path a few times but i've always found you get great levels of equipment on a bit of a shoestring budget and dammit i just have a bit of an addiction with the marque... There i've said it ... i'm an addict.
Sometimes i even manage to go cold turkey for a year or so but there is always one somewhere on the side of the road tempting me to fall off the wagon and normally i just don't have the willpower to say no!!
I don't think i can put a finger on just one thing that i fell in love with the car but if pushed i would have to say that it one of the prettiest saloon cars i can think of, or maybe how its such a nice place to be with the sumptious interior, or maybe the ride especially over long distances.
Maybe, just maybe, its just that everytime i go outside and see it sitting in my drive it puts a smile on my face because its mine

I just love the exterior and interior of the 75, in my opinion nothing else comes close to it.
