Default Air bag light

Help! My Rover 75 04 reg is stuck at the garage at Durham City as they are unable to reset the airbag light to enable it to pass the mot. Their diagnostic equipment does not cater for older cars which are no longer manufactured.
There is a way to reset the light using a bypass cable but no one can remember how to do it!

My airbag light sometimes comes on if I move the driver's seat . Move it again and it goes out I think it is the connection under the seat if mot tester has adjusted driver's seat to drive in for test maybe this has caused the light to come on . maybe you can ask him to move seat again to see if it goes off. Worth a try and hopefully a cheap fix

If it's in Durham, take it to Fred Henderson, or up to Dave Johnson at fence houses
Unplug the connector under both the front seats, spray some contact cleaner into them, then plug them together a few times.

Bear in mind it could also be the side impact sensor faulty as this throws up the airbag light too.

And if all else fails, cut and rejoin using strip connectors

Default Air bag light

Thank you all for your help, I booked the car into Fred Henderson for next week but in the meantime my local garage (Croxdale Fast Fit) managed to knock the light out and were able to give it an MOT pass.
As Fred Henderson used to be a Rover dealer they still had the T4 program for the Rover 75 in their diagnostic set up which costs £82 to plug in.
I was unable to track down a phone number for the garage at Fencehouses so if anyone has it please pass it on to me for the future.

I recently had both my wifes car and a customer car with the same problem of the air bag light being on I had checked all the usual suspects but everything was OK there.

I decided to change the clock spring on my wifes car as there were other stearing wheel related problems and low and be hold out went the light.
the customer car came in a week later with the same problems no radio remote controls no horn and air bag light on went straight for the clock spring. Now I am not quite sure as i have being in a lot of parts recently but I think the clock spring was under £80 new from DMGRS. Rimmers have 2 of them if you know the part Number but what ever you do dont phone them up and ask for a clock spring, I am convinced they thought I was pulling their leg. But were quite a bit more expensive.
Sounds a lot for a T4 to be plugged in I like the hobnobs idea would that be chocolate ones.
