Why would you put the 1.8 turbo in it when a 2.0 Turbo was an option?
I had a 220T saloon. Almost the ultimate in street sleepers

The 220 turbo is an extremely old and heavy unit producing 200 bhp whereas the 1800 turbo would fit well, be incredibly lighter on the front end and with a Z&F remap make over 200bhp and be an easier conversion for a non turbo coupe

Only issue you have is fitting the ECU - the 1.8T uses the MEMS2 whereas I think the Rover Coupe uses MEMS2?? Therefore you'd need to rewire most of the car

(really hoping that I'm going to be corrected...)

I'm surprised you feel it would be an easier conversion than an engine that was meant to go in the car anyway and i would have thought that owning such a lovely example would make you want to try and keep it fairly original. The old T series blocks made for quite an exciting drive even if you kept them as stock although there was huge scope for tuning.
I still look on the day mine went to the great scrapyard in the sky with a little sadness.

Default 220 Turbo Coupe

Bought by wife a 220 Turbo coupe before we had the children. Tahiti blue, K reg. An excellent car then and would have another one in a heart beat... Definitely a street sleeper. Not without its issues, even in stock tune but all now readily fixable. Now, if the garage was just that little bigger.......
