Default Testing, testing: ZT-T 260

Chaps - I'm in the UK at the moment driving around in my old MG SA (that's a 1937 model for you modern MG folk :-) ) but before I go home next week I would dearly like to test drive a ZT-T 260, to compare it with our V6 back in Australia. No ZT-T 260s ever made it to Oz, only the 12 or so saloons. Does anyone know of one for sale in the Petersfield area, or does any member own one that they would be prepared to let me have a short drive in?

I visited SMC at High Wycombe today and found that the ZT-T 260 (a supercharged one) had been sold, so I was only allowed to look at it. I was able to road test a 260 saloon instead. They do go nicely, don't they? JDC, does the Club know what changes were made to the ZTs and Rovers for the Australian market? The Australian Design Rules (ADRs) are perverse enough usually to require manufacturers to make some changes, sometimes only minor ones to do with seat belts, etc.

If I am to import a ZT-T 260 to Australia, I might be required to do similar changes before I can get the car MOT'd in Australia, so it would be useful to know what they might be.

Cheers for now...

Malcolm

Not sure of the detailed changes to the Australia spec cars, but I did read that they had to have kms speedo, and there was a preference for auto boxes. If you want to import an auto you'll need to find a Rover 75 V8 Tourer but not many made.
As for the kms speedo, I presume you'll need to find a LHD instrument panel specifically for the V8.

Now that is interesting! I was under the impression that only the saloon V8s came in - something someone must have said. I'll check again locally in Australia as I'm sure importing will be a huge hassle (it always is!). Thanks...
