Default Diesel Oil light Question

Since I bought my CDT a month ago, when I first start it after its been sitting, the oil light takes about 4 seconds to go out.

Is this OK?

It stays out and goes out right away in subsequent starts.

It has 163,000 miles.

If it has fresh oil, filter ect and the oil level and type are correct then you can check the pcv... positive crankcase vent...
Then drain the oil and remove the sump and check the oil pick up arm is not blocked....
Then the oil cooler...
Then that the oil pump is not failing...

But first of all the correct 5w40 fully synth oil and the correct filter...

The oil and PCV are new.

So you think the oil pump could be failing? Sounds terminal.

The oil pump is last on the list....
The previous owner could have allowed the sump to sludge up partially blocking the pick up...
