Default Cigar Lighter YUJ100480 (Rimmers)

Please be advised that this part does not fit a 2003 car, despite the Rimmers website having no year of manufacture restrictions.

This part has a slightly larger diameter than the one that was (until I destroyed it getting it out) originally on my car. I assume they got bigger later on.

Yeah, what you needed to do was to file the hole a bit bigger.

I doubt there's much chance of me getting it filed so that it is the right diameter, still round, centred and able to hold fast the orange carrier but I think I'll give it a try, might be fun. Whats the worst that can happen?

You would have to file both of the "holes" or the collar on the orange piece.

If it's just the bulb that's burnt out, you can replace that separately.

Best to male a cardboard template the correct size, transfer it to a wide piece of masking tape, stick the tape over the existing hole (so the new larger hole goes equidistant round the edge) and file the hole to shape, take your time and everything will be fine.

Easier to get a second hand part.

I wonder why Rimmers still sell this.

Thumbs down

Rimmers don't seem to sell them. I ordered one 6 months ago and I'm still waiting for delivery. I keep getting put off notes because this is very slack and should not be done. If they had to give a discount for poor service then they'd pull their fingers out

The Mk1 cars were for the more discerning owners with cigars, the later version was for the the few remaining cigarette smokers...
