Matt, I'm not sure how you intend to go about it but I've tried this myself with a piece of stainless steel tubing. I tried to remove as much of the inside of the valve as I could (I got rid of the actual valve mechanism itself) so that I could force fit the tube. I used grinding stones and reaming bits on a drill. Unfortunately the inside tapers in to the middle so making a decent straight-through look to the assembly is almost impossible unless you reduce the size of the tube used which probably negates any benefits. I ended up only getting the tube just over half way through so blocking the valve entry/exit. I made a bit of a mess of it TBH but it works. Just bear in mind it's not as straightforward as you might think.

Good luck.

thanks very much for your reply

yeah i hadn't really thought about it in too much detail so that info is very handy cheers.

It'll give me something to have a bash at in my workshop of an evening anyway, and if i can get a broken/bust one for next to nothing then it won't really cost me anything either to have a go.

I'll post back with my efforts once i get one

Cheers

Matt

Cool

I did the same mod took about 2hrs with drill, file and hacksaw blade.
I drilled as many holes through the internals as near to the inside edge them hacksawed the parts off. I then filed the surface smooth. I blocked of the breather pipe with arildite. I then reamed the inner edge of the return pipe to allow the fitting of a penny washer bolted through to the main pipe with another penny washer bent to the inside edge of the EGR.

Good luck and do the intake mod as well. This can be done very discreatly as well.

Steve.

at least this will bump your thread.

I wonder whether just filling the holes left from ripping/drilling the offending parts out, with car body filler, will withstand temperatures involved?

Presumably this area doesn't really get hot so might be ok - but any thoughts?

For the minimal cost a EGR bypass valve from Wingy seems the easiest bet.

unless, like me, you sold your car with the bypass still on and now have a spare EGR to play with!
I must admit with the ZTT I just fitted the cleaned one and then had time to clean the one I'd taken off ready for next time.

its easy, just hollow an old one out (the difficult bit). And smooth and seal the inside over with araldite. ive got an old one i keep meaning to get round to doing.
