I got a "mates rates" respray on my ZTT last July..No where near fabulous and no doubt many would scoff at the finish but for £400 I'm happy enough with it.

Front bumper, bonnet, roof, tailgate and rear quarters with all glass removed and then fitted post spray cost me £1000 last year on my Supra. I wasn't that impressed and took the car back twice.

You could be better buying another car in the same colour for peanuts and swap all the decent bits over and then just have the minor imperfections done and then have it polished. Paint is expensive and if you spend £2k on a paint job or even more if you have an accident and the car is written off it will be a struggle to get your money back from the insurance companies.

Doesn't matter how expensive the paint is, the determining factor is the preparation, and the skill of the painter.
If the painter's rhetoric outclasses his skill, then you will get a crappy job, if your car is painted at a VBRA bodyshop where they have their own mixing scheme, gas heated, floor level extraction booth, by an artisan painter who takes pride in their workmanship, then you will more than likely be happy with the finish. Unless your car is something really special, I'd be tempted not to bother, unless you have stripped a car in readiness to be painted before, you are in for a treat................it takes many many many careful hours to simply remove the trim Brian |

The bodyshop I work at charge approximately £300 per panel. Paint and lacquer is very expensive. Customers get insurance work done and usually say if there's any spare paint left can you cover that scratch on another panel expecting to pay an extra £30 or so. They very rarely take the retail quote to get it done.

My lad had his car gently rear ended by a Fiesta leaving the imprint of the Fiesta grille on the rear bumper. What followed would take to long to explain but the car transportation company placed the stropps over the front wings marking the wings and bonnet. Lots of legal stuff but eventually the car went to a highly recommended paint shop in Somerset.
The job became a full respray with all panels and doors off as the cost against part and blend was 4/5 the cost. Total respray £9000. The car now looks better than factory. |
