Our car has two of these, one in each corner by the sun visors, any idea what they are...?

I did wonder that, certainly not very nicely fitted though! Wire not nicely concealed, hanging off the wire etc..
Looks like some of the ultrasonic ones seen online, I had wondered if they were microphones for a phone system but apparently not! If possible i would like to remove them as they are a bit of an eyesore, I presume they are wired into the car alarm not a separate alarm?

Those are the same alarm system we had fitted to our Transits, a bit like perimetric motion sensors, supposed to detect broken window entry Aftermarket, so you'd need to trace the wires to the sounder

Would anyone recommend leaving them in out of interest?

If they work and you can live with them leave them there.

I think they're quite neat, and may make a thief think twice if spotted. Lower the window, lock up, and after a few minutes stick your hand through the window and see if the alarm triggers.

Sit in the car, all doors and windows closed, lock it using the 'blipper' and keep very still till the system sets itself them move and see what happens, that's how I tested how my old 420 Gsi system worked, I think they described it as a 'Volumetric' alarm but I might be wrong.
P.S. I'd leave it in if it's working, part of the security of the car and a deterrent. Last edited by maxi_crawf; 11th August 2016 at 10:09.. Reason: Addition |
