Default Announcing The 27th Owners Club National Meet 24th March 2019

Announcing The 27th Owners Club National Meet

on Sunday 24th March 2019

The Club's 27th National Meet will be held on
Sunday 24th March 2019
at
Fleet Air Arm Museum
RNAS Yeovilton
Ilchester
Somerset
BA22 8HT

10:00am - 4:30pm

The Fleet Air Arm Museum is devoted to the history of British naval aviation.
It has an extensive collection of military and civilian aircraft,
aero engines, models of aircraft and Royal Navy ships (especially aircraft carriers),
and paintings and drawings related to naval aviation.

Hall 1 contains a display about the development of naval aviation
from the early days of airships and fabric-covered wooden biplanes
to modern jet aircraft and helicopters

Hall 2 is mainly devoted to the Second World War, with a side room
featuring a Kamikaze exhibit, which contains models of Japanese
aircraft and final letters from Kamikaze pilots. Two aircraft from
the Korean War are also displayed.

Hall 3 has been converted into a mock-up of the fleet carrier HMS Ark Royal
as it would have appeared in the 1970s. The entrance to this hall is by a
simulated helicopter ride from Hall 2. The hall itself is a simulation of a
section of the flight deck of HMS Ark Royal
and aircraft are displayed as if they are on the deck.

In Hall 4 you'll find amongst other exhibits the second Concorde
to fly and the first British built example. It was flown to Yeovilton
on March 1976 and opened to the public in July of that year.
It has been on display ever since.

The museum has a well appointed cafe called the
Swordfish Restaurant where you can buy hot meals,
pastries, hot drinks and snacks

Grille Badges, Key Rings, Calendars and other club shop items
will be available to purchase on the day also.

OVP the club car will be on display if you want to come and see it in the flesh too
and we will be presenting the 2nd Windrush Award for the best car in show
as voted for by those attending
