I'm very fortunate in that I have an Auris Hybrid as a company car and Mrs Simondi has a ZSEV. However as petrol rapidly approaches £2 a litre the pleasure of driving the ZT is starting to diminish. Had seriously thought about driving it down to my daughter in the East Riding at the end of the month but at approaching £230 in fuel I really can't justify it.
Compare that to the EV which even paying exclusively service station prices is working out at around £90. The hybrid would work out roughly between the two. Scary times

Well, we need speculate no longer. My closest petrol station is showing £2.01 for a litre of E5. That’s £9.13 a gallon, which is one of the reasons why I took a four-hour bus journey to go and visit my Granny this week instead of driving (my Rover is my only car)!

Must confess that I am using my diesel Jaguars more - average 60mpg on a run is much better than my diesel 75s which have never topped 50mpg.

I cannot see that fully electric cars are suitable for those in rural areas or terraced streets with no option to park on your own property. Its fine and dandy for the ads on the telly showing EVs being plugged in on the drive, but for those who don't have one you can't charge at home. Then we have the costs to build the factories to make the batteries, the materials needed in the production and costs to recycle/dispose at end of life. Not forgetting of course how the "clean" electric is generated in the 1st place.
