Good morning everybody, the weather looks a bit bad to say the least. I'm hoping it won't last all day, I'm getting a bit bored of the wind now. Have a good day Gents.....

Welcome to the day Derek and to the veterans celebrations. Try if you can, to pace yourself

We had a difficult and long day yesterday. I had to cancel the dentist, not a problem. Jessica's mum collapsed after she had the pre-op tests and we had to get her into A&E. Cutting a long story short she was admitted and stabilised. She went into ventricular tachycardia. Rapid heart beat with feinting. This can be managed with a pacemaker/meds. She is now on a 24 hour cardiac test and depending on the results, we will know if she can go ahead or not next week with the hip replacement. She is in that much pain that she needs the op badly and was having I/V pain relief last night, bless her heart....we will know this morning if the meds have helped or not, when we go into see her.

Thanks Derek, we have had to employ attendants seperately, to be with her mum for the days and the nights, as the nurses won't sit and keep an eye. Her mum tried to remove the chest leads and rip out the IV drip because of confusion and she is a high risk of falling. We are still hoping that she will be well enough to eventually have both of the hips replaced one after the other. There is no NHS in Kenya, everything is private and I have to say that the nursing care is not that brilliant. Fortunately BUPA is paying.

Yesterday, a syringe driver machine broke down and we had to bring a new one down with a nurse from ICU as the nurses on the ward did not know how to set it up. It was one that I was not familiar with. Challenges that we had to work through.
