I forgot to add that depending which cities you are driving in a Crit'Air vignette is required. Only costs about £5 including postage to UK, mine arrived in less than 2 weeks.

My 2.5 got a 3 on its French emissions vignette. It can also go into the Antwerp low-pollution zone.
As far as number plates are concerned both the 75 and the Outlander sport the Cross of St George with ENG beneath. I've never had any problems in many years of continental motoring.
