Default BMW MKIII Sat Nav Firmware Help Please

Ok all, need a little help after updating my Highline to BMW spec parts.

I managed to get a MKIII BMW Sat Nav drive off the evil bay quite cheap. It's been a bit of a saga getting here but it landed today and promptly refused to work. Now normally I'd have sent it straight back but I did a little investigation and found that I could probably get it back up and running, which I did, eventually.

So, I reloaded the firmware using an image from this site - http://neiloakley.com/ as it was the only one I could find that was in this apparently critical MODE 2/FORM 1 format, but it did the job and the sat nav sprung back into life and updated to v3-1/63. However, I have a couple of problems that I am hoping can be resolved in one go...

I have this rather tacky load screen:

and I also have sat nav instructions being given to me in Russian (or similar).

I'm hoping that some kind soul has an update disc that will have a lovely MG badge for a load screen and that will also reinstate a more recognisable voice too, but any help would be appreciated.

Well, I tried another firmware disc, and the M3 logo has now been replaced by the generic BMW one, but I still cannot fathom how to change the language of the sat nav to english. When I updated the firmware the load screen stated no language updates required, and exploring the disc shows what I assume to be the english voice files so it should be working?

I have just tried downgrading the firmware to an earlier version, and this time I got the following screenie:

Additionally, when I change the language to French, both the text and the sat nav voice change. When I revert to GB, I get english text, but a non english voice.

Not sure what is going on.....I wonder if there is a regional setting somewhere I cannot access.

After plodding on a bit more with this...

Looks like one of the firmware cd's I used must have had modded language files on, so when set to GB, the text is all ok, but the voice commands are in another language. If I set it to French, both the text and voice commands change to French.

What I need, is a firmware update CD, preferably with a modded MG badge loading screen, but also with a language change that will force an update and overwrite.

At the moment, regardless of which firmware I try to apply, it won't update any of the languages, which is very annoying.

I can't find anyway to wipe the firmware and start from scratch, using older versions simply means it doesn't update anything.

A good suggestion, and one I looked at, but my attempts at trying to create a disc failed.

However, I am all sorted thanks to Navcoder - I ordered a cable from ebay which arrived this morning, 10 minutes later, I have an english speaking lady guiding me! The update screen still showed the language names in German (?) but at least the actual file updated ok, huzzah!

Just got to try and sort the loading screen out next, which is in hand (hopefully), and then move onto TMC which is another puzzle.
