Default My 75’s Replacement

I’m getting rid of my 75 as I’ve just got the 75’s replacement my dream 80s car the Rover SD1 so still rover. It’s a 1981 Rover SD1 2300S only ever been welded twice since new. I have been informed that only one other like the one I got is left in existence. I do plan of getting another 75 in the future but currently. I wanna have some different cars after owning them since 2016.

I have had 4 different SDEs, called SD1 down here and better built, with stronger rear suspension and no self leveling, which seemed to have been the right decision, as the Boge Niveaumat proved to be troublesome.
I enjoyed each of the 500000km i did in mine, but they were all V8s.
We also had a 2600, with an Australian engine, that was further "modified" here. That thing was gutless and had few redeeming features, often cracked the exhaust manifold.
I have never seen the lesser models in the UK, but I would be surprised if the 2300 was not even more lifeless than our 2600.

All in all a very good car, let down by a drab interior in the early models. Talking about brown, brown and even more brown! Truly depressing.

Apart from that a car I hold in high esteem, and far underrated by people that did not know them. The UK build quality was also shocking at times.

I still have three of mine, hoping against hope to rebuild one one day!
I doubt it will ever happen!

Really? I'm surprised to hear that Kaiser. I owned an SD1 with Nivomats for 36 years and they gave no more trouble than a standard shock absorber, i.e. they had to be replaced every ten years or so.

Anyway, Thomas' car won't have had them being a 2300.

Only ever been welded twice! My 1980 V8S has never been welded, but it is low mileage, having been in the family since 1983. How many miles has yours done?

That's quite a low mileage for the car needing to be welded twice.

I think I saw a comment somewhere that said the rust accelerates faster than the car.---

You'll remember the standard of UK car assembly in the seventies and eighties Jon; next to no rust prevention measures.

No, not criticism but a simple statement of facts.------
