Default Highline failure

Hi all, I’ve been have issues with my highline system screen not working. I had a look in the boot and yes there was some water so I dried it out and found the video module fan not running. I finally got a working unit, fitted it and exactly the same has happened. Screen backlight on but black with a blue line on the right hand side. What’s going on?......I’m lost.

Hi Graham,

Have you closely inspected the video module connectors for water damage to the terminals?

Yes, they look fine to me. As the fan isn’t running, im thinking that there isn’t any power getting to the unit. What pin powers up the video module? If I can get power to it I was wondering if I could prove the modules.

Black connector with blue cover, pin 1 is a permanent feed of 12v from the car's battery. The earth is pin 10.
There is a separate earth for the LCD display on pin 12.

I’ll have a try later to see if it’s the modules, board monitor or car.

Nope still getting the same result with both video modules. Blank screen, backlit with a blue line on the right hand side.

Hi to all
have a look at the wry cable there is a header under the carpet on the drivers side 2 members have reported that fault was found on this header try and see if you have continuity from the front to the back the wry cable goes to the video unit

Hello Graham,

Did you prove that +12v is reaching the video module connector?

David is referring to the K-bus connection between the screen (Bord monitor) and the video module. It's colour coded white/red/yellow and you'll find it on pin 3 of the video module connector (black with blue cover) and on pin 6 at the screen connector (black with natural cover).

Please let us know how you get on.

Simon

Graham looked in on the 3rd February but gave no response to this thread.

Maybe he doesn't know how to find the replies to his questions.---

Firstly, thanks all for the help. I obviously last looked before David et al responded. I have now managed to get the screen working.

I found the header and all was fine, it turned out to be corrosion in the 12v crimp of the blue video module connector. With a pin in the connector front and another in the wire to the back of the connector I had no continuity.

I took it apart, cleaned up the joint, put back together hey presto it’s back up and running!!

Just need to sort out another NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- leak now from the shark Fin. But at least with the screen now working I have been able to confirm the shark fin is US. Now I just need to find a replacement!
