Smile Track day 1.8t

Many locally will know this car. It has had several owners and been unlucky to be consistently failing engine issues.

Years ago the car was bought as a blown 1.8t by my friend Mark, and ultimately I had planned to purchase it, but got laid off at the time. I helped him with the car and it made a very nice wagon when completed, and a powerful one also making 186bhp on the rolling road at one of our events with just a boost tweek and standard engine file.

The car changed owners a few times and with it being boiled twice, once due to what looked like water pump failure and the other to fan failure in traffic, repairs where done and sadly none lasted to long.

So the car was destined for the scrap heap, and I've bought it to turn into a track day. I'm doing a video series on it so I've included a few videos of it below and will add more as I go along.

I've a complete engine going in, rebuilt 5k ago with everything done on it, belts, pumps, etc, car was running great as I'd test drove it before hand and put a few miles on the engine to make sure I was happy with it.

Below are the videos about the car and if you have some time feel free to enjoy. I will get some fancy cover photos for it eventually.

Part 1 - History and plans

Part 2 - Engine arrival and update

Part 3 - Vehicle stripped
