Hi-Line Not working properly
After buying our rover 03, the cd player controls on the unit were working perfectly. Now we can only operate the radio and cd player from the steering wheel. You cant change cd on the unit or change radio station or even skip tracks.
The car does have electrical niggles, eg the reversing sensors, the display on the mileage etc so I wish to know how to remove the unit to check and clean the connections, and also how to disconnect the gps temporarily in the boot. Im wondering if the electrical connections are dirty and as a new owner have no manual and can I do this in one day??? I plan to do this tomorrow easter sunday? Thanks guys.

I would check for water damage on the tv/audio units in the boot, don't forget to shut the satnav down before disconnecting battery.

Where does the water come from??
On the mx5 it came through on the light seals/hardtop bolt seals and sometimes the electric aerial seal. On the mx5 condensation would build up on the inside of the boot lid and drip into the tool well. Always thought the boots of cars should be insulated like the insulation on the bonnet lid.

A common cause of water in the aptly named well is from a broken seal round the tail lights, a quick fix or indeed you can buy a new seal

No water in the boot, lots of loose rust but no holes. The wires were covered in loose rust. But the unit on the left that is not in the photo is running constantly, sounds like a fan. We think this is running the battery down. The hi line unit in the car will still not operate from the keys. Only operates from steering wheel. Can we disconnect the unit that is humming constantly??? We know we will lose the radio code but to be honest we are going to replace with an aftermarket unit now. The gps unit on the side of the boot has a red light constantly on too. Please advise which plug to pull on the left hand unit in the boot (not the one in the photo) Is it the blue plug or the white one? Thanks for your help. Now replacing some bulbs in my husbands mx5. Tracey
