R.I.P. Jack Charlton
Tremendously sad news to hear of Jack's passing this morning.
He was one of the games greats, and a gentleman. Not only a great player and part of England's greatest triumph, he was a great manager, a real people person. He completely turned round my clubs fortunes, ( Middlesbrough ), in the early seventies, and produced a team that very nearly won the domestic games top honour, the First Division as it was at the time. He was a great success in managing national sides too, his Eire team achieved so much. Thanks Jackie, for all you did. I'm sure " wor kid Bobby", would accept all of world, and domestic footballs, and all who met Jack's sincere and heartfelt condolences. God bless you Jackie. R.I.P. |

His son went to the same school as me ( just a few years ago ) when he was manager of Middlesbrough , he often used to pick him up from school in a big white Ford Zodiac/Zephyr estate , it was chaos as the car was surrounded by gawping kids !

A legend when I was a yob, in the bar near my Dad's group, everybody's "claim to fame" on the way home in the bus. A gentleman of the game.
