Default Flickr and Picasa

With BT Broadband we get a free Pro subscription to Flickr and I managed to load a few photos early on: http://www.flickr.com/photos/norwichhouse-oakridge/. Recently I wanted to create a Collection for a group but Uploadr wouldn't so I have loaded them onto Picasa: http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/NorwichHouse.Oakridge without any trouble.

They each have advantages and disadvantages, Flickr's inability to upload being formemost, but I do like its Forums and the possibility of creating Collections. Picasa's software is good, but ThumbsPlus, which I have used for years, is far better at managing large numbers of photographs.

Has anyone else had trouble with Flickr Uploadr or has it just fallen out with me?

Malcolm

PS. Christine is a national judge of Angora Goats so I tend to 'volunteer' to take pictures for the record.

Thanks Lightpainter for your invitation which I have accepted. You clearly have no trouble uploading to Flickr so I wonder why it doesn't like me.

I think there have been murmurings on the forums about Uploadr, but nothing definite.

Udate.

I have un-installed/re-installed Uploadr and it is working again, I hope it lasts.

Some car piccies taken over the years have been uploaded. Is the MG a YA?

Malcolm

Edit: I had forgotten that Flickr seems to upload in the original size which is an advantage.

Just rambling away to myself here, I'll get over it soon.

Flickr uploading without reducing the file size is actually the problem which has choked it. Also I have put captions etc. into the IPTC data which Flickr does not use, but Picasa and other programs do. So it looks as though I will be staying with Picasa for the Angora Goat pictures and just using Flickr for my other photos. I have added some pictures of cars to Flickr, some of whch I can't identify.

Malcolm, I have found that although you can upload an uncompressed JPG to Flickr its best to also upload a photo @ 800 along the longest edge so that you can directly download to a forum page without overriding there pixel count. You can always link to your larger formatted photo in Flickr if you wish to!

Example :-

Just click the photo for larger rendition!

Hope this might be of some help!
Pete,
