I lived in Coventry in the 1980's & did some research into the Motor Manufacturers based in the City.Whilst most people recognised Coventry as Car City they would be surprised that 124 Manufacturers have existed in the City since 1896.
Many of these were relatively short lived ventures that just faded away,but the bombing of 1940 destroyed many of the other premises. I will email the list of Manufacturers with Addresses & the period they were in business. I have lost touch with Coventry,but even in the 80's very few older premises survived.Parts of the old Lea Francis works in Much Park Street were still standing & as these were half timbered medieval buildings I hope they still exist. By contrast Paris is littered with old Car Factory premises.Due to not being bombed & the French acceptance of old shabby buildings,rather than any preservation policy. |

The oil refinery up Blackhorse Road or even Bayton Road,both in Exhall spring to mind buddy............

Coventry Airport has some right old relic Buildings around the Place.
Not all has been modernised. |
