Default Updating Camera ??

Looking to update current camera (Canon Powershot A720) cos I am getting a little disappointed when I compare my results with those of friends DSLR’s (mostly Canon) . Comparisons done with JPG files before any Photoshop by the way.

I appreciate that any compact is very unlikely to give DSLR results but I would like to get a bit closer if I can without going the DSLR route

The A720 is pretty much what I am after in a camera apart from quality of result - 35-210 Zoom, manual control if I need it, IS, not too much noise up to 800iso, doesn’t weigh a lot and fits in my pocket (OK not shirt or jeans but most others).

The only current camera which appears (on paper anyway) to fit the bill appears to be a Canon G11 but at a pretty steep price of £450/499 at the moment.

Any suggestions for other cameras I should be looking at ??

All I can suggest is for you to take an appropriate memory card to a shop and ask if you can try some cameras then compare the results.

If you want some fun though get a DSLR and just walk around a meet with it. It's amazing how many people hide from you.

I shall treat your remark with the contempt it deserves. But I shall get you back.
