Default Protecting the paint

Are we talking a couple of coats of wax, sealants or ceramic coatings? What do you use? What is best?

What I've picked up online so far is that wax gives a good level of shine and protection but doesn't last very long. Sealants do similar, seems to be personal preference which is used. Ceramics give a harder shell and can last up to a year?

Any recommendations?

I use Collinite 476s on my Baby. Gives good protection, and lasts well.

Nowhere near as durable as a ceramic coating, but then I enjoy the whole ritual of washing, claying, polishing, waxing etc, so a coating would be a waste for me .

I use Autoglym super resin polish then Meguiars detailing spray to seal it in a bit and give a nice glassy shine. Seems to last a few washes between applications and doesn't take long to apply.

Yeah I'm using collonite at the moment but wondered if there was something that would last a little longer. I only enjoy the ritual in the summer...

Give Carpro Reload sealant a try, it was recommended to me by KDS in Gillingham (have a look at their web-site and their Facebook site, they're probably the top detailers in the UK).

476s is a super wax, its what i normally use over winter. With safe washing practice you will see it last over the winter. This year i have tried Fusso Soft99. Its a hybrid wax, and its holding up very well indeed. Two coats applied in October and the beading it super. Seems to keep the car cleaner as well.

I tried Reload, but couldn't get on with it - it all seemed too easy and I found I missed the satisfaction of toiling away with a paste product.

Nothing wrong with the Reload - it has excellent reviews, comes highly recommended, and gave great results. Just me being old fashioned I guess . I'd certainly recommend it to anyone wanting to try something other than the usual high street products.

I also use Collinite 476s on my ZT-T and I find it gives a long lasting protection to the paintwork and alloy wheels without leaving any residue.
