Default 250,000 miles up today

Just a note re my ZT which this afternoon clocked up a 1/4 million miles. I bought the car second-hand in July 2008 and have done around 200,000 miles in it - approx. 25,000 per year. Incredibly reliable which is testament to servicing as per Rover's requirements. Probably the best car I have ever had for my needs.

Hopefully it will last for another three years when I then retire. Be worth next to nothing and time for a change. The new Ford Mustang convertibles look nice and I might treat myself to a three year old one?

Other than changing consumables (tyres, brake discs / pads, rear box) the biggest job was a new clutch etc in 2012 as we were off to the SW France / NE Spain and though it wasn't problematic I just wanted to be sure. From memory it was around 160,000 miles.

The only other car that I have enjoyed as much reliability wise and gave me what I wanted for work was a 1992 Vauxhall Cavalier Sri saloon. It died around 170,000 miles when a crane hit it.

That said in all honesty (road wise) nothing puts a smile on my face like my much modified (mechanically) TR4 which I have run since February 1980.

Fantastic - very good going. Mine are barely on more than that between the two of them!

I shall stop worrying about the 43,000 miles on mine then. ...
