When we looked at it we could not see a mark on it. Has been very well looked after.

I don't know but Lydia said it is the same car. The lighting is causing the colour change. She also said it had the same number plate .

For MarinaBrian and Mr Doodles
From launch in 1983 through to April 1984 the MG Maestro had the R-series 1.6 engine, which had various problems. This was replaced for 6 months (May-October 1984) with the S-Series (which fixed some of these issues). Thereafter the MG had the 2-litre O-Series, so late 1984 cars did have the 2-litre.
I know the 'M' cars (Metro, Maestro and Montego) are not to everyone's taste, but they form a part of the continuum from the Magnette ZA through to the 'Z' cars (ZR, ZS & ZT) Andrew

M cars
I'm sure I probably saw your car at Pateley Bridge that year (how many M cars do you see, as you said?)
Presumably you've seen - http://www.maestro.org.uk/forums/ You may be a member already there? Anyway, I'll keep defending them, as I've said before, without them the MG brand would have fallen out of the public's eye Andrew
