I don't know but Lydia said it is the same car. The lighting is causing the colour change. She also said it had the same number plate

From launch in 1983 through to April 1984 the MG Maestro had the R-series 1.6 engine, which had various problems. This was replaced for 6 months (May-October 1984) with the S-Series (which fixed some of these issues). Thereafter the MG had the 2-litre O-Series, so late 1984 cars did have the 2-litre.

I know the 'M' cars (Metro, Maestro and Montego) are not to everyone's taste, but they form a part of the continuum from the Magnette ZA through to the 'Z' cars (ZR, ZS & ZT)
