Brian, what constitutes OEM now anyway?
The Genuine rear dampers I bought from Xpart (via Rimmers) a few years ago were unbranded and clearly different to the factory-fit Delphi items. For avoidance of doubt, I like to use the term 'Factory Fitted' as you know what you're getting. Xpart sell some definitely different items as Genuine compared to what was fitted when the cars were built, but can we call these new Genuine Xpart items 'OEM'?

My definition of what is ‘original’, (OEM) is either:- whatever make was fitted at build, and are now made to the same specifications. Or the original parts made by the same company, to the same specification,as those fitted when built. Yes. Precisely? Anything else is ‘fake’, and in breach of trading standards. I think if a few of the ‘fakers’ were given short shrift we would be able to get merchantable parts without having to worry about rubbish parts.

The original equipment dampers are Delphi, so Delphi dampers can be described as OEM, nothing else can be described as OEM
Regardless of who is selling them, be it Xpart or anyone else for that matter. So are the ones being sold by DMGRS actually Delphi? that is the only question. Brian |
