Default The Russians are coming!

The Russian discount stores 'Mere' are coming to blighty Preston to be exact & opening their first store today. They're stating that they will be up to 30% cheaper than Aldi or Lidl.

I wonder what their black pudn is like https://skintdad.co.uk/mere-supermarket/

Thumbs up More to come..

Mere are establishing themselves all over Europe now.

I have provided their IT systems and infrastructure at their Ribbleton branch.

Their model seems to be copying the very first Netto stores selling from pallets and oversize boxes on the floor.

To be honest, having uploaded their price lists this week, I'm not so sure that 10 - 20% saving compared to Aldi/Lidl is true though.

Interesting though, I did note that a majority of its suppliers are from smaller UK manufacturers, whom already supply the likes of Savers/Superdrug.

I am involved with the installations at a further 9 stores between now and Oct 15, so clearly they have ambition.

Time will tell

Cheers for that, If they build a store around Bolton way I'll give it a try if just for essential stuff.
