Default Highline to Harmony

I bought a Conny which has a dodgy Highline display, and a non working navigation drive.
I want to do the Android Tablet conversion that Pedrovader has done, I have a Harmony spare.

Can anyone help with what adaptors etc I might need to 'downgrade' the Highline to Harmony?

Thanks!

Good lad, you know it makes sense!!

Not sure if the Symphony is any different regarding wiring, but I'd guess the loom is the same.

Your shopping list is pretty minimal, i used the connects2 brand, widely available - MP3 Adaptor (CON-CTVRVX003 - CTVRVX003 Aux Adapter for Rover 75), DD Facia (CON-CT23RO01 - CT23RO01 Double DIN Facia Plate for Rover 75 / MG ZT/ ZT-T).

I'd invest in the ground loop isolator

before you put everything back together, unlike me. I tested everything with the engine off, then got a lot of earth hum later on, so I had to fetch it all to pieces again to put it in.

What tablet have you got in mind?

Happy to help!

That's a good budget start, I've made some adjustments to my setup since installation because I decided to stay with it for a while before going for a better tab....actually..... that's a lie, I've got the better tab already, but it's become my personal toy,

I found that i couldn't keep the battery sufficiently charged doing little trips around, so I've patched into the 12v permanent feed....bingo permanent juice!! Downside to that is having to wire in a switch, pulled it out of an old PC, miniature momentary one.

I'll get some more photo's, and add to the instructions, but add an appropriately rated cigarette lighter charger for the tab, you'll need to butcher it if you follow the permanent feed method.

In the meantime, you'll be needing some apps to go with it, I take it you have an Android phone?

Tether GPS - one payment for both devices, thats the satnav sorted
Tablet Talk - same as above, make and answer calls from the tablet
Navfree - Google maps is OK, but you need an always-on data connection, this doesn't, map is stored on the tablet.
Your own choice of music app, I'm using Google Music, as all my music is already in the cloud, with selected playlist synced to the tablet. You could get a decent sized memory card, and throw what you want on that.

There'll be more advice coming, as and when you need it!!

Pedro
